The participants will visit local enterprises in Saint-Petersburg to learn Russian business and companies and also experience of implementation of sustainability concept in Russia.
The following topics will be covered:
- Implementation of sustainability concept in Russia
- Perspectives of cross-cultural management
- International business and cross-cultural communication
- Management control in organizations: focus on sustainability
After visiting enterprises all students separate on groups of three (each group should be international). Each group will receive certain case-study to research, analyze and interpret information about visited enterprises (one enterprise – one case study). Case numbers are different for written case assignment and presentation. Each group will be given a case number after visiting enterprises.
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to develop and expand the knowledge about how enterprises and organizations operate Russian business environment. Student will be able to demonstrate the theoretical knowledge of Sustainable management and analyze a level of sustainability concept’s implementation in Russia. Based on the students' own experience from their countries will be able to comprehend similarities and differences in management practices in different business culture.

Students must be admitted to the two year Master of Science in Sustainable Management Program, or have explicit permission from the administration at HHB and BSTU.

Lectures, seminars and exercise.
Assessment methods and criteria:
a written case assignment report (consisting of several assignments from the company) with Norwegian grading system (A-F) account for 30% of the grade, final (oral) presentation of case studies (to be done in groups) for 30% of grade (A-F), team working for 20% of grade (A-F), activity (attendance of enterprises) for 20% of grade (A-F).
